This was a playlist that was created in 2015. It had been a long time since I had done a playlist (or mix). Like most playlists, in the previous year there were a couple of songs I knew I wanted to base a mix around and those songs (in this case Down A Burning Road, Peaceful Harbor, and Bennett Built a Time Machine), were more epic/prog so I wanted the majority of the surrounding songs to be more mainstream.
Someday Never Comes
- All That’s Yet To Come – Glen Burtnik: Play Here – A tremendous solo vocal song from Burtnik’s 2010 album Welcome To Hollywood. Good enough that during the tour for the album he lead off the concerts with the acapella song, very brave. It works
- Face On the Bridge – Asia: Play Here – Live version of a standout track from the bands 2012 release XXX. The song is up there with those on the first album.
- A Feast Of Consequences – Fish: Play Here – Title track from the Scot’s 2013 album. Up there with his early solo material.
- Someday Never Comes – John Fogerty (featuring Dawes) : Play Here – From Fogerty’s 2013 duet’s album of the same name. It’s a fantastic album with this track being one of many highlights.
- Down a Burning Road – Spock’s Beard: Play Here – From the first album by Spock’s Beard with Ted Leonard on lead vocals.
- Rain – Dennis DeYoung : Play Here – From Dennis’ album One Hundred Years from Now, which was in itself an album of rock songs unlike he had done in over 20 years.
- Since You’ve Been Gone – Rainbow: Play Here – The first AOR hit by Rainbow after Richie Blackmore fired Ronnie James Dio and went a more AOR route.
- Where Your Angels Are – Bazilian and Wester: Play Here Best I Could Do – Eric Bazilian of The Hooters fame recorded this album with Matts Wester from Sweden fame. Very Hooterish.
- Peaceful Harbor – Flying Colors: Play Here – A song I heard for the first time and to me it elevated the album it was on from good to great. Steve Morse’s playing and Casey Mcpherson’s vocals elevate the song to greatness.
- The Great Unknown – Jimi Jamison: Play Here – From the late GREAT Jimi Jamison’s last studio album.
- Unsatisfied – The Replacements: Play Here – Everything I heard of The Replacements lead me to think I would hate them. I probably do most songs, but this is a great one.
- Bennett Built A Time Machine – Spock’s Beard: Play Here – Odd song from the second album with Ted Leonard, although drummer Jimmy Keegan did a great job with lead vocals.
- To Whom It May Concern – Journey: Play Here – A tremendous song from the second album recorded with Arnel Pineda on lead vocals.
- Brother In Arms – Dire Straits: Play Here – Always wanted this song on a mix, it finally made it.
